From quagmire to quality path

It took four of us; two wielding shovels and chippings, one with shears attaching brambles and one giving stoical moral support, to recreate a path on the Green Chain Walk last week. The steep incline, going towards Elmstead Woods through the park, had become a treacherous and squelchy assault course. We were able to open up the path from encroaching brambles and cover the mud with chippings. So far it seems to have really helped make the climb an easier and more pleasant walk.IMG_0276

  1. A great effort. We have avoided this path for a couple of months. We will try it out next time we are walking through the park.

  2. Thank you ‘Friends’ for cleaning up the path. The Grove Park branch of Lewisham Healthy Walks will be using the path next week on our way to the woods, the first time this year.
